HTML META Tag Tutorial

META tags provide information about the HTML document. Metadata is not be displayed on the page, but is passed to the browser and to search engines.
META tags are used to provide things like a description of the page content, keywords, author of the document and other informaion. The META tag always goes inside the head element. Here are examples of various META tags: <meta name="description" content="Page Description Here"> <meta name="keywords" content="Page Keywords Here"> <meta name="author" content="Your Name Here"> <meta name="rating" content="General"> <meta name="robots" content="index, follow"> <meta name="revisit-after" content="90 days"> Note that no META tags are required, but it's in your best interested to use the description META tag as the text you use will be the description of your web page that some search engines display in the search results.
