Cheap Hosting: Is Cheap Hosting Good or Bad?Of course, there are plenty of cheap hosts that do sacrifice quality in order to offer the lowest prices. They get plenty of business too, perhaps because people who can't affort more or don't want to pay more just don't expect much from a cheap host.Yeah but . . . I'm happy to report that not all cheap hosting is bad. Some of it is actually very, VERY good! I've been building websites since 1997, that's the year this site was opened. I've gone through a lot of bad hosts, and a few good hosts that went bad. But I haven't had any real hosting problems for years because I've hooked up with some very good hosts. I have more sites hosted with Bluehost than any other host. Why? Because they're very good. I've been with them for years. My sites are fast, their tech support is as good as any and better than most, and ... they are low cost! You could say they are a cheap host, but that really depends on how you define cheap. They don't sacrifice quality, speed, or customer service, so they are not cheap in those regards. They just have low prices. More Cheap HostingThey're not the only cheap host. I list more cheap hosting options at the other end of that link. These are the cheap hosts that are also very good. There are even cheaper hosts, but you do sacrifice a little quality with some of them. It's nothing too drastic, mostly a longer wait for tech support if you need it. If getting hosting for the lowest price is your most important criteria, check out this list of the cheapest web hosts. Conclusion about Cheap HostingCheap hosting, or more appropriately described nowadays, low cost hosting, has come a long way in the last several years. You can get very affordable hosting with tons of features and ample disk space and bandwidth for a very nominal cost thanks to a tremendous amount of competition that brought the price down to where cheap hosting is no longer an indicator of poor quality. |
