The select element is a form control used to create a selection list (drop-down list) in a form to collect user input.
Here's an example selection list:
Guess which one of those animals live in my home? No, it's not a monkey, don't be silly . . . I have a cow in the basement. Um . . . here's the code for that list:

<option value="horse">Horse</option>
<option value="cow">Cow</option>
<option value="monkey">Monkey</option>
<option value="dog">Dog</option>
</select>
