HTML Line Break Tutorial

A single-line break is created in a web page by using the HTML break tag. The break tag has no closing tag.

In XHTML it must be self-closed Here's how to code a break tag:

Some text<br> HTML example
Some text<br /> XHTML example

A web page<br>coded like this

...would render like this:

A web page
coded like this

In other words, when you insert a break tag the text immediately stops on that line drops one line down.
