The code tag is for designating fragments of computer code. It renders text in a monospace font in more browsers.

Using a code tag is easy:

<code>code sample</code>

Here's an example of text with the code tag applied:

» <element attribute="value">

Other HTML tags that generally render text in a monospace font include:

<samp> sample
<kbd>  keyboard
